Create Healthy, the Fredericksburg-based foundation investing in the health and wellness of the Hill Country, contributed $15,000 to purchase needed school supplies for Fredericksburg ISD teachers and students. The contribution is part of FISD’s “clear the list” initiative.
“Supporting our educators and making sure they have what they need to most effectively teach and engage their students is one of the many ways Create Healthy is investing in our community,” said Jayne Pope, RN, CEO, Create Healthy. “Instilling a passion for health care service and a medical career starts in our classrooms. This is a long-term investment for Create Healthy in our region’s future health care workforce.”
With a mission to invest in the Hill Country’s health and wellness, Create Healthy’s primary “clear the list” focus was on supplying teachers of science, math, health, and other health care-related subjects. Once those lists were cleared, funding was allocated to other subjects.
Create Healthy is in the process of developing its overall grant funding strategy, including identifying areas of funding priority. Part of that process involves ongoing conversations with regional nonprofit, faith, government, school, and business leaders to harvest insight and perspective on areas Create Healthy can have the greatest impact and ensure that final funding priorities truly reflect the values and goals of the community.
