Press Release: Create Healthy Invests in Early Childhood Education

November 3, 2023 – Create Healthy, the Fredericksburg-based foundation investing in the health and wellness of the Hill Country, donated $500,000 to Bethany Preschool to support its capital campaign to expand and renovate the preschool so it can nearly double its care capacity.

Bethany Preschool provides childcare and early childhood education programs for children from 18 months to 5 years old, as well as after-school and summer programs for school-age children (5-12 years old).

“The structure and support early childhood education provides for our children is critical for their healthy development and the future of our community,” said Jayne Pope, RN, CEO, Create Healthy. “We know that early education provides a host of benefits for children, and the Hill Country’s working families benefit from after-school and summer programming as well.”

“Create Healthy shares our commitment to early education and the critical role it plays in the healthy development of children and the broader community,” said Cheryl Flink, director, Bethany Preschool. “This donation will help us continue providing a solid foundation for Hill Country children.”

Create Healthy is engaged in an ongoing process of developing its overall grant funding strategy and identifying areas of funding priority. This includes partnering with existing local organizations to ensure its resources are made useful immediately. Part of that process involves ongoing conversations with regional nonprofit, faith, government, school, and business leaders to harvest insight and perspective on areas Create Healthy can have the greatest impact and ensure that final funding priorities truly reflect the values and goals of the community.
