The Create Healthy Wellness Center announced its upcoming swim programming schedule. Programming features both private and group swim classes and lessons for children and adults.
Create Healthy is investing in both safety and fitness with swim programming that spans from children to seniors. Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death in the U.S. for children ages one to four, underscoring the importance of teaching children to swim early in life. Just one month of formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning in children by 88 percent.
For adults, swimming is a low-impact workout that uses every major muscle group in the body, and one that can be enjoyed at virtually any age.
“Now is a great opportunity to ensure young children know how to swim and stay safe as summer inches closer and more of us spend time around water,” said Dawn Bourgeois, Create Heathy Wellness Center director. “Swimming is a valuable life skill that helps keep us safe and in shape, and we’re committed to connecting our community with the resources to do just that.”
Create Healthy Wellness Center Members can call 830-997-1355 to register for a class or to schedule private swim lessons. All swim lessons are American Red Cross courses led by certified water safety instructors. More detailed information about each program can be found at CreateHealthy.org/wellness.
