Create Healthy will cease operations of the Thrift Shop & Boutique as of December 31, 2024. The decision was made to more closely align Create Healthy’s projects with its mission of promoting health and wellness in the Hill Country and to reduce competition with other local charity shops, several of which support organizations that Create Healthy funds with grants and other donations.
All Thrift Shop employees have been offered employment at the Create Healthy Wellness Center.
“On behalf of the Create Healthy board of directors and leadership team, I extend our deepest appreciation for the staff at the Thrift Shop for their work and look forward to seeing their creativity and commitment at work at the Wellness Center,” said Jenny Wieser, Ph.D., chair, board of directors, Create Healthy. “We are also grateful to the volunteers and this community for their years of support of the Thrift Shop.”
The Thrift Shop will accept donations until November 1. The Create Healthy Board is evaluating how to proceed with the Thrift Shop building and property.
“Create Healthy will continue the community service legacy of the Thrift Shop by identifying opportunities throughout the year to partner with other local organizations to support coat, blanket, and fan drives and other pop-up events so that everyone in our community has the opportunity to help each other and to have what they need to be safe and comfortable, no matter the weather or season,” said Jayne Pope, CEO, Create Healthy.
