Emergency and Severe Weather Notifications Straight to Your Phone

In the event of an emergency, every second counts — and staying informed could make all the difference. That’s why the City of Fredericksburg offers Fredericksburg and Gillespie Alerts, a free service that keeps you up to date on emergency situations and severe weather events that may directly impact you and your family.

With this system, you can choose to receive alerts via text message, email, pager, or voicemail, depending on your preferences. It’s especially important to sign up if your household no longer uses a traditional landline, as many alerts are now issued through wireless communication.

What kind of alerts will you receive?

  • Emergency alerts: These may require immediate action, such as evacuation notices, shelter-in-place instructions, or boil water advisories.

  • Significant non-emergency alerts: These may include major transportation disruptions or ongoing police or fire activity that could affect your daily life.

This system is not used for routine updates—you’ll only be contacted when it matters most.

To ensure you’re receiving the most relevant information, provide your address and preferred contact method(s) when signing up. This helps tailor alerts to your specific location.

How to Sign Up:

  • To receive emergency text alerts only, text FBGTX to 38276, or text GILLESPIE to 38276 for Gillespie County specific related alerts.

  • You can also visit the City of Fredericksburg’s website to sign up, modify your notification profile, or unsubscribe at any time.

Stay safe. Stay connected. Sign up for Fredericksburg or Gillespie County Alerts today.
