Create Healthy Selects Two New Members to Serve on Board of Directors

Two new members have joined Create Healthy’s volunteer Board of Directors: Bonnie Stewart, M.Ed. and Melany Canfield, M.Ed. Both bring deep community roots and leadership experience that will be an asset to Create Healthy’s governance and work across the Hill Country.

The Board of Create Healthy, chaired by Joel Junker, is composed of community and business leaders committed to furthering Create Healthy’s mission to invest in wellness and empower its communities. With proven, effective leadership and strong personal and professional ties to the region, the Board helps guide strategic investments that support long-term community health and well-being and advance the organization’s vision for a Hill Country where all contribute and thrive.

“As a Board, our role is to steward resources responsibly and keep the community at the center of every decision,” said Joel Junker, chair, Create Healthy Board of Directors. “We’re excited to welcome our two new members and look forward to continuing to grow and evolve our investments in the health and wellness of the Hill Country.”

  • Bonnie Stewart is the current superintendent of Harper Independent School District and previously served on Create Healthy’s volunteer Grants Council.
  • Melany Canfield is retired school counselor for Mason Independent School District.

In addition to Stewart, Canfield, and Junker, the other Create Healthy board members are John Ramsay, M.D., John Hutcherson, PhD, Todd Willingham, and Chris Schoessow.
