Swim Instructor, Create Healthy Wellness Center
Position Overview
We’re seeking a knowledgeable, safety-minded Swim Instructor to provide high-quality swim lessons for children, teens, and adults. This role is responsible for teaching water safety, stroke development, and confidence-building skills in accordance with Texas safety standards and facility policies. The ideal candidate is patient, engaging, and confident in managing participants of varying ages and abilities.
Key Responsibilities

Teach group and individual swim lessons using approved curriculum and progression standards.

Instruct participants in water safety, proper swimming techniques, and safe pool behavior.

Assess swimmer skill levels and adapt instruction to meet individual needs.

Maintain constant supervision of the pool deck and ensure a safe learning environment.

Communicate clearly with participants and parents about progress, expectations, and safety guidelines.

Prepare lesson plans and maintain accurate attendance/skill tracking records.

Inspect pool area and equipment before each shift; report any safety concerns or maintenance needs.

Follow all facility, state, and local safety policies, including emergency action plans.

Provide excellent customer service and represent the facility with professionalism.
Qualifications

Strong swimming skills with demonstrated proficiency in all major strokes.

Prior swim instruction or coaching experience preferred but not always required.

Current certifications (or willingness to obtain):

CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers

First Aid

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent preferred

Ability to work with children, maintain composure, and manage groups in the water.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment

Indoor pool setting.

Must be comfortable working in and around water for extended periods.

Requires physical ability to assist swimmers, demonstrate skills, and respond quickly in emergencies.
