Press Release: New Online Directory Connects Hill Country Residents to Human Services Resources

A new online resource directory has launched to help Hill Country residents locate local services and help with mental health, food and shelter, and family support. HillCountryResources.org is the new, free online hub.

The platform came about from discussions with the Hill Country Mental Health Coalition, which identified early on the lack of a central hub to connect clients with area assistance resources.

“Hill Country Resources was created with one goal: to make it easier for our neighbors to access support close to home,” said Mikki Hand, executive director of Frontera Healthcare and chair of the Hill Country Mental Health Coalition. “Participating Coalition members early on identified that we need a tool that is easy to use, up-to-date, and built for our region.”

The site offers verified, updated listings — no login, referral, or eligibility process required. Whether someone needs food assistance or a mental health provider, the information is easy to find, easy to share, open to everyone, and completely anonymous. Create Healthy is providing the funding for the project.

“Hill CountryResources.org is one of the most direct ways Create Healthy can deliver on our mission of improving health and well-being across the Hill Country,” said Jayne Pope, CEO, Create Healthy. “This is about eliminating barriers to finding help and empowering our human services organizations to be able to quickly connect area residents with appropriate assistance.”

The Hill Country Mental Health Coalition brings together schools, law enforcement, social services organizations, individual behavioral health providers, and others to identify areas of service need, support potential collaborations and partnerships among existing entities, and strengthen available resources. With Create Healthy support, the Coalition meets regularly throughout the year.
