Create Healthy Announces Over $600,000 in New Grants
In its last round of quarterly grantmaking for 2025, Create Healthy awarded $641,633 to nonprofit organizations serving Gillespie, Blanco, Llano, Mason Counties and Comfort. These investments strengthen early childhood development, food security, youth services, and independent living.

Little Hearts Child Development Center
Operational Support 2026 — Gillespie County
This grant supports the child development center in operations stability while it launches a tuition assistance program to reduce the financial burden on families waiting for approval of state subsidies.
San Antonio Food Bank
Mobile Food Markets: Mason County and Comfort
This grant supports eight Mobile Food Markets in Mason County and Comfort, in partnership with Comfort Baptist Church and the Mason County Food Pantry. These markets provide reliable access to nutritious foods.
Hill Country CASA
Community Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Retention — Gillespie County and Comfort
This grant supports Hill Country CASA’s ability to recruit, train, and retain volunteer advocates who serve local children in the foster care system, ensuring vulnerable youth have consistent support.
Texas Ramp Project
Texas Ramp Project – Hill Country 2026 — Gillespie, Blanco, Llano, Mason Counties and Comfort
This grant will help volunteers build 30 wheelchair ramps in 2026 for individuals with mobility challenges, improving independence and safety at home.
“These Create Healthy grantees see the challenges our neighbors face every day — finding reliable childcare, putting nutritious food on the table, supporting youth in difficult circumstances, and maintaining independent living,” said Laura Cook, chair of the Create Healthy Grants Council. “Their work reflects the heart of this region, and we’re grateful to partner with them.”
Create Healthy’s Grants Council reviews funding proposals quarterly, prioritizing investments that advance health education, early childhood development, mental health, and healthy living. The Create Healthy Board of Directors has final approval of awards.
