Create Healthy Awards Almost $600,000 in Grants to Support Hill Country Nonprofits for First Quarter of 2026

For the first quarter of 2026, Create Healthy awarded $572,781 in grants to nine nonprofit organizations serving communities across the Hill Country, continuing its investment in local programs and services that strengthen health and well-being across the region. 

The grants support projects in Create Healthy’s strategic funding priorities, early childhood development, mental health, healthy living, health education, and food security in Blanco, Gillespie, Llano, and Mason counties, as well as Comfort. 

“With our ongoing grantmaking, Create Healthy continues to invest in the organizations and projects that help children, teens, adults, and seniors live healthier lives and strengthen our communities,” said Jayne Pope, RN, MBA, FACHE, president and CEO of Create Healthy 

The Q1 2026 grant recipients are: 

  • Johnson City Christian Food Pantry — help keep pantry shelves stocked for individuals and families in Blanco County. 
  • Boys & Girls Club of the Highland Lakes — to support transportation that helps young people access programs and services in Llano.  
  • Comfort Table and Food Pantry — support construction that will strengthen food pantry services in Comfort. 
  • Family Resource Network of Mason Texas — help provide nutrition support for babies and families during a child’s first year in Mason. 
  • Hill Country Community Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Center — support mental health and recovery services in Gillespie, Blanco, and Llano counties. 
  • Llano Independent School District — improve a student wellness resource center in Llano. 
  • Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries —help provide food for low-income individuals and families in Gillespie County and Comfort. 
  • Optimist International Foundation | Optimist Club Fredericksburg — support a youth T-ball activity area and shade structure in Gillespie County. 
  • Texas A&M Foundation — support a rural medicine education program serving Gillespie, Mason, and Llano counties. 

“With repeat and new grantees, Create Healthy is expanding its reach and impact,” said Laura Cook, chair, Create Healthy Grants Council. “We’re entering our third year of formal grantmaking, and it’s been rewarding to see the scope and variety of organizations and projects we have the privilege to support.” 

Create Healthy provides grants and other philanthropic support to nonprofit organizations working to improve health and wellness in the Hill Country. Funding decisions are made quarterly and approved by the Create Healthy Board of Directors.
