These organizations are the heart of our region.

Whether you have a few hours or ongoing time to give, there are opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the Hill Country. This Volunteer Week, find a cause below that speaks to you and see how you can help.

Blanco Education Foundation

Designed to further enhance the quality of education for the students in our school district by generating and disbursing funds above and beyond those available through local, state and federal sources.

Volunteer Opportunities: Top Ten Banquet, Prize Patrol (awarding of grants to Blanco ISD teachers), Scott Edwards Memorial Golf Tournament, paver advertisement and sales, grant application and review, scholarship review.

Family Resource Network of Mason, Texas

A non-profit ministry in Mason, Texas dedicated to serving women, children, & families by leading them to life-affirming choices.
Volunteer Opportunities: Advocates (who see clients), fundraising volunteers, Baby Boutique organization, diaper sorting and packaging, baby food organizer, front office manager (volunteer and advocate), Community Outreach Advocate, Client Services Director, RN, and Physician’s Assistant.

Friends of the Written Word, Inc.

Create and sustain a vibrant literary culture in Fredericksburg, Texas. To fulfill this vision we promote reading, support writers, and celebrate literary arts in our community through education, outreach, and special events.
Volunteer Opportunities: Every year, the Fredericksburg Independent Book Festival relies on the support of passionate people in the community to make sure the day runs smoothly from start to finish.

Golden Hub Senior Center

The seniors of Gillespie County come here to stay active, stay connected, and keep enjoying life. It is a place to exercise, share meals, spend time with old and new friends, and take part in clubs, arts, and special events. With great food served every weekday, including meal delivery, it also supports lifelong growth in body, mind, and spirit.

Volunteer Opportunities: Your help can make a big difference in a homebound seniors life as the Meals on Wheels driver may be the only point of contact they have in a day. We also have many other volunteers opportunities such as activity instructors, event volunteers, nutrition volunteers, and more!

Good Samaritan Center

A charitable medical, dental, and mental-health clinic meeting essential health needs for Gillespie County and some of our surrounding area through direct care and community partnerships.
Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers are an important part of our ministry. Front desk volunteers are often the first faces patients see as they enter our facility or the voice they first hear when they call. Volunteers also help in our medication room, with select back-office duties, and make our landscaping the prettiest in town.

The Grace Center of Fredericksburg

Provide services that break the cycle of domestic violence, giving individuals hope and healing.

Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers play a vital role in the work we do at The Grace Center of Fredericksburg. If you are interested in volunteering with the shelter, orientation is required before attending volunteer training. If you are interested in volunteering at one of our resale shops, training is not required.

Hill Country Community Needs Council

A place dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing tough times and financial challenges. Our goal is simple: to restore dignity and empower self-sufficiency.

Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteering at Hill Country Community Ministries offers a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Our organization thrives on the dedication and compassion of our volunteers, who contribute their time, skills, and energy to support our mission of breaking the grip of hardship, hunger and hopelessness.

Mason Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry

We serve Mason County by providing our neighbors with nutritious food.

Volunteer Opportunities: Local volunteers help to pack and distribute the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month, in addition to special produce pick-up days and Mobile Markets from San Antonio Food Bank.

Steady Steps Daycare

Steady Steps serves the children and families of Mason, providing full-time, Christ-centered childcare for children ages 6-weeks through 4 years of age.
Volunteer Opportunities: We are constantly looking for board members and substitute volunteers.

Texas Ramp Project

An organization that provides wheelchair ramps to low-income older adults and people with disabilities identified by local healthcare providers. Ramps are built with volunteer labor, keeping costs to a minimum, and are built without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, age or gender.

Volunteer Opportunities: Provide volunteer labor to build wheelchair and mobility accessibility ramps for low-income older adults and/or people with disabilities identified by local healthcare providers. Material for ramps provided by funds from grants and donations to the area served for no cost ramp to the client.
